Taste of the MarshWalk: A Foodie’s Dream in Murrells Inlet

Every year, food lovers gather in Murrells Inlet, SC, to experience the Taste of the MarshWalk, a culinary event that brings together the best flavors from the local waterfront restaurants. This year’s event did not disappoint, offering a mix of fresh seafood, bold flavors, and creative bites that had our taste buds dancing.

A Boozy Start: Bloody Mary Bombs

We kicked off our tasting adventure with the Boozy Bloody Mary Bombs—a fun and flavorful twist on a classic Bloody Mary. These Bloody Mary’s were made with Deep Eddy Vodka and Dead Dog’s house made bloody mary mix garnished with a jalapeño, tomato, mozzarella ball and lemon topper. Delivering the perfect balance of tangy tomato, spicy heat, and a smooth boozy finish. It was the ultimate way to start a foodie-filled afternoon.

Chimichurri Jumbo U-10 Shrimp with Lemon Aioli

Next up was the Chimichurri Jumbo U-10 Shrimp, a dish that was as beautiful as it was delicious. These massive, succulent shrimp were fried to perfection, with a delightful crunch that enhanced every bite. The vibrant chimichurri added a burst of fresh herbs and garlic, while the lemon aioli provided a creamy, citrusy contrast that tied everything together.

Short Rib Crostini: A Perfect Bite

The Short Rib Crostini was a delightful combination of textures and flavors. Tender, slow-braised short rib was piled onto a crisp crostini, creating a satisfying crunch with every bite. The blue cheese crumbles added a rich, tangy depth, while the horseradish cream sauce gave it a bold kick that lingered just long enough to make you crave another bite.

Shrimp & Grits Balls with Red Pepper Sauce

A playful spin on a Lowcountry classic, the Shrimp & Grits Balls were an instant favorite. Crispy on the outside, creamy and cheesy on the inside, these bite-sized delights were packed with the comforting flavors of shrimp and grits. The roasted red pepper sauce added a hint of sweetness and a gentle smoky flavor that elevated the dish even further. I could have easily eaten two more helpings but then I wouldn’t have had room for anything else.

Shrimp & Grits with Cajun Flair

No MarshWalk experience would be complete without a plate of Shrimp & Grits, and this year’s version had a bold Cajun-forward flavor that set it apart. The grits were velvety smooth, soaking up every bit of the rich, spiced sauce. Juicy shrimp, cooked just right, provided the perfect balance to the dish’s hearty, comforting flavors.

Final Thoughts: A Can’t-Miss Event

The Taste of the MarshWalk is truly a must-visit event for any foodie, offering a perfect mix of classic Lowcountry cuisine and inventive new creations. From Shrimp & Grit bites to rich, savory dishes, every sample was a celebration of coastal flavors. We can’t wait to come back next year and see what new surprises are in store! Perfect for families or anyone looking to try good food and shop with various local vendors. There was even a little petting zoo for the kids!
